Retail Alliance Sponsors E-Commerce Seminar
February 22, 2005
Norfolk, VA - Online sales are skyrocketing, and the trend continues to move upward. Businesses ready to establish a profitable online presence should attend How to Create Your Online Storefront on March 15, sponsored by the Retail Alliance and featuring an e-commerce expert from VECTEC, the Virginia Electronic Commerce Technology Center.
Nationwide, e-commerce transactions were estimated to reach $145 billion in 2004, according to a recent report from Forrester Research. Excluding travel, which is typically the largest e-commerce sales driver, e-commerce is expected to grow 14 percent in 2005 from last year.
This seminar will provide a foundation for creating an online storefront that reflects and emphasizes a company's brick and mortar establishment. Learn about low cost and no cost options, as well as the type of data required to make an online storefront a success.
Presenter Megen McMichael is the E-Commerce Technology Services Manager for VECTEC, where she supervises the web team in the development and implementation of comprehensive online stores for more than 100 companies across the Commonwealth including Rowena’s Gifts and Smithfield Foods. She has prior experience at Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) and Computer Sciences Corporation (CSC) serving as a web developer, an application developer, project lead, business analyst and content manager for several key projects. She holds a B.S. in Information Science from Christopher Newport University.
The seminar will be held at TowneBank, 137 Mount Pleasant Road in Chesapeake, from 8:30 to 10 a.m., with a continental breakfast beginning at 8 a.m. To register, contact Kathy Ramella at (757) 455-9319 or email kramella@retail-alliance.com.
