Loss Conference

August 5, 2002

Norfolk, VA - Recognizing that Hampton Roads retailers are losing millions of dollars annually to retail theft, Retail Alliance is sponsoring the first Loss Prevention Conference in the region.

“Nationally, retail theft reached a staggering $39 billion in 2000 and is expected to climb another $1 billion,” said C. Donald Porter, CEO/President of Retail Alliance. “Retail thieves are costing the merchants of Hampton Roads over $200 million annually. This conference will offer our local retailers and law enforcement tools to help combat this critical bottom-line issue.”

The conference will take place Tuesday, August 20, from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Chesapeake Holiday Inn Conference Center.

Registration fees are $75 for Retail Alliance partners and $150 for non-partners. Registration includes a luncheon and a reception following the day-long educational seminars. Conference registration forms and information may be obtained by calling 757-455-9319.

Keynote speakers include:

  • Kenneth W. Stolle, Virginia State Senator, Virginia Beach and Chairman of the Virginia State Crime Commission and the Senate Courts of Justice Committee
